Out-of-date thinking implies that death and injury from the road system are mere accidents. New international thinking is clear that death and injury from road crashes are system failures that can be managed downward and to zero.
This site provides information about my new book, No Accident; links to road safety statistics, research and organizations; a selection of videos that may make you re-think various road safety topics; and regularly updated road safety news from around the world. My book shows how Canada can do the unthinkable: continually reduce, and then by 2035 eliminate death and serious injury from all of its roads. No Accident is the culmination of a four year project, is peer reviewed by fourteen international experts, is based on extensive research and interviews, and is a hybrid in that it is written for both general and scholarly audiences. There is no question that we can fundamentally change the way we think about road safety and the priority we give it, and by doing so we can help forge a better Canada.
